...HEAVY SNOW WILL SLOWLY DIMINISH TO FLURRIES FROM SOUTHWEST TO NORTHEAST THROUGH THIS EVENING... .A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for all of central and southern Minnesota and west central Wisconsin into this evening. The winter storm that has been affecting the entire area since early this morning will slowly begins to loosen its grip on the region later this afternoon and evening, with snow tapering to flurries from southwest to northeast across the region. Storm total accumulations of 6 to 10 inches can be expected in many areas, and very low visibility will persist into this evening. Road conditions will remain slick and hazardous in most areas, with major impacts on the evening rush hour, and evening school events. ...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Heavy snow. Total snow accumulation of 6 to 10 inches.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central, southeast, southwest and west central Minnesota.

* WHEN...Until 6 PM CST this evening.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Travel will be very difficult through this evening, with major impacts to travel for the afternoon Twin Cities rush hour and all evening school activities and sporting events.

...Snow Continues This Afternoon... Areas of light to moderate snow continue, but will gradually diminish from the southwest through the rest of the afternoon. An additional 1 to 3 inches is possible, especially over parts of central and north central Wisconsin. Many roads remain snow covered and slippery, especially untreated and secondary roads. Slick travel is expected for the evening commute. The accumulating snowfall will end across the area by late this afternoon or early evening.
