...Stifling Heat Continues Today... .Very hot and humid conditions will persist across much of the southeastern half to two-thirds of Iowa today. More seasonal temperatures will return to the entire area by Sunday. ...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

* TEMPERATURE...The combination of temperatures in the 90s and dew points in the 70s will once again produce daytime heat index values of 105 to 115 degrees by this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Heat-related illnesses may occur due to the prolonged period of heat and humidity.

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a DANGEROUS SITUATION in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

* TEMPERATURE...Heat indices today will range from 95 to 105.

* IMPACTS...This dangerous and prolonged heat can cause heat illnesses, especially in the elderly, very young and pets.

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of unusually hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in the air-conditioning, stay out of the sun, ensure pets have plenty of water and shade, and check on relatives and neighbors.


Flash Flood Warning

Areas Affected: Dodge; Olmsted

NWS LaCrosse (Southwestern Wisconsin, Southeastern Minnesota, and Northeast Iowa)

The National Weather Service in La Crosse has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for... Olmsted County in southeastern Minnesota... Dodge County in southeastern Minnesota...

* Until 1000 AM CDT.

* At 657 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
