ROCHESTER, Minn. - Food, wine, and music are all part of the 8th annual largest local food festival in the region, Feast! Held Saturday at Mayo Civic Center. The event is a big expo of food makers from Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa, showcasing everything from chocolates to honey --- all made with local ingredients.
Last year's event was fully online, this year was a hybrid event.
A few hundred orders were made online utilizing curbside pickup.
Event organizer Brett Olson hopes the event gives vendors an opportunity to expand their brands.
He says, “Once that BBQ sauce makes it on the shelf of your local grocery store, that's impactful, so we're really trying to help these small businesses grow and be profitable.”
There is also a wine - cider - and beer portion of the feast with half a dozen winemakers.
one vendor is Michelle Mazzara, the owner of a clean eating brand, Luvafoodie.
“Luvafoodie is a clean eating and drinking brand connecting everyone who shares a passion for food and beverage together,” she explains. The majority of her brand is spices made without chemicals that are gluten free and vegan.
What makes her brand unique is the all natural spice made for dogs and cats. It was created for her dog, Lucy.
"She stopped eating when she was 13.5 she had her first seizure, she had cognitive issues as an older dog. So I researched how to get a dog to eat, and I came out with dog lovers."
Mazzara hopes that people can get a lot of flavor out of her product, while still having a healthy lifestyle.
40 local vendors were at Saturday’s food festival.
