the rochester public library a winter storm warning remains in effect for the entire viewing area until 6pm this evening due to approaching snow storm looking to drop a widespread 6á8" of snow across the area. some areas may pick up locally higher amounts. heavy snow is already falling and will continue to do so through the morning commute and possibly through the mid morning. the snow already has led to horrible road conditions as of 3am and they will only continue to get worse as the snow continues. not only are the roads snow covered, but winds are blowing the falling snow reducing visibility and putting drifts into the northbound lanes on northásouth roads. plan on traveling at least 10á30 mph under the speed limit or not at all á keep yourself and your vehicle safe! if you must travel, block out plenty of extra time. the snow will continue into the early to mid afternoon and then taper off from therewith temperatures rising to the upper 20's leading to a wetter snow by the end of the event. sun will return for thursday, which will help crews clear off roadways in time for another round of heavy snow over the weekend. our next big system moves in overnight friday into saturday and looks to last through sunday evening. this storm has the potential to bring several more inches of snow, as well as a wintry mixture of rain/sleet/sno w through saturday due to temperatures rising to the lower to mid 30's friday and saturday. be sure to stick with the stormteam for the latest. today: moderate to heavy snow early/snow ending 2á4pm highs: upper 20s. winds: east becoming west southwest at 10 to 15 mph. gusts near 25 mph. tonight: decreasing clouds/partly cloudy. lows: near 10. winds: west at 10 to 15 mph. thursday: mostly sunny. highs: low to
