engagements. and right across from the art center... a proposed convenience store... is no longer being considered. today á at a packed forest city á city council meeting... the proposed ordinance to amend residential multifamily optional zones allowing the store a special exception á failed to pass a second reading. a majority of the people speaking at the meeting... largely opposed the store... due to it's location. donald erickson of forest city is against the store... saying it would be a better fit further west á away from the arts "i think 8 blocks to the west is some farm ground right on the edge of town that if you wanted to put a convenience store, that would be a good place for it." mayor barney ruiter (rooter) tells kimt there was some concern over the exact definition of a convenience store.. and it blending in with the surrounding neighborhood./ //
