the prospect of building new animal confinements has continued to be a controversial subject. now - fillmore county is joining the list. in the studio kimt news 3's brooke mckivergan just got back from newburg township she's live in rochester now to fill us in. brooke? hog confinement-lintro-2 katie right now newburg township is being sued so the public hearing this evening was canceled because of legal actions being discussed. however - dozens of community members still gathered outside of the building to show their concerns.xxx hog confinement-pkg-1 lowerthird2line:concerns surrounding hog confinement newburg township, mn "good fences make good neighbors but our fences shouldn't have to go as hgh as the air blows or as low as the water flows." dozens of newburg township residents gathered outside of the town board meeting tonight. they are showing support to the board as a lawsuit has been filed against them by alvin and merilee hein. quick sot? that's the couple who wants to build a large hog confinement. the heins are against a 1 year moratorium on new large scale feedlots and developments being discussed by the town board of newburg township. hog confinement-pkg-3 "which would give us a year as a community to figure out what sorts of rules are right for our community." hog confinement-pkg-6 basically the moratorium would hit the pause button on any new large scale feedlots and other developments. "i would just like to see a community conversation about what scale of operations are appropriate." because the community is worried about several things.
