between every rider and their horse... but for mason city's emily lunning her bond with shadow is extra special... and because of that connection the impossible was made possible this weekend at the north iowa fair.xxx nat whitney: from the moment mason city sophomore emily lunning met shadow the connection was there. emily: i think we have the same personality and stuff and we both want the same thing the same goals. whitney: but the goal of competing at the north iowa fair hit a little bit of a road bump when her horse was diagnosed with moon blindness this november and was fully blind by january. george: some would have instantly gave up and there's only two places for a horse then of course but as you can see giving up isn't in their vocabulary hillary: everybody has challenges in their life we have a child with special needs and we have a horse with a disability too and we just are fighters and we always try to find the positive out of everything and keep going forward in life whitney: so without a second thought... despite the vets saying his gaming days are over... the lunning family found a way to still get emily riding with shadow for this weekend's events emily: steering is a big thing because you're not supposed to steer the reigns so much more on his head you're just you're more with your legs so i have to use more legs on him whitney: with a little bit of tweaking... and a lot of trust... the duo not only competed... they earned the highest ribbon possible... a purple... in the keyhole event. george: little did we know, sorry, what a horse and a kid can do and these two are matched up and they're almost spiritually together whitney: an unbreakable bond that is just as strong as the one between emily and her sister lauren... who is also breaking the mold this weekend and competing as well.... lauren: riding horses is my favorite i love him trot him and stuff. the twins are trying to avoid being swept against the struggling royals today... ? top of the 4th were scoreless with one on for brian dozier who goes oppo lining a double nat whitney: from the moment mason city sophomore the twins are trying to avoid being swept against the was there. emily: i think we have the same personality and stuff
