Title: Meteorologist

Joining KIMT News 3 in July 2017, Sara is very excited to jump on-board as the newest addition of StormTeam 3!

Born in California, but raised in Colorado, she has been interested in weather since she was a very young. The fascination began during the frequent trips she and her father would take to the park where they would sit and watch the clouds roll by. That fascination turned into a passion and Sara began exploring the reasons why the skies moved and changed. Combining technological and creative skills such as graphic design, video editing, and a love for geography, Sara found that becoming a broadcast Meteorologist was her ideal career path.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Geography, with a hard focus in Atmospheric Science from the University of Denver. Sara then continued her education by attending classes at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. Those studies focused solely on Meteorology and broadcast production. There she auditioned and was cast as a broadcast Meteorologist for the Emmy award-winning student newscast, The MET Report. Together with fellow aspiring broadcast journalists, Sara anchored and produced live weather forecasts for the Denver Metro area.

While volunteering as a student forecaster at CBS4 Denver (KCNC), it was suggested she apply for a position as a Writer/Producer at the station. Soon after applying, she was offered the position and accepted. During her time at CBS4, Sara allocated her time to learning all she could about the world of broadcast news – while also taking the time to practice in front of the weather wall.

Sara then moved to Boston, Massachusetts, where she married and focused more on her Meteorological aspirations. Now she and her spouse are enjoying the quiet and comfortable atmosphere of both Minnesota and Iowa!

While away from the radar, Sara enjoys creative writing, exploring the outdoors, and playing tabletop and video games.
