MASON CITY, Iowa – One person is hurt and another is facing charges after a pickup truck crash Monday.
The Mason City Police Department says it tried to stop the pickup in the area of 5th Street SE and South Vermont Avenue. Officers say the truck sped away, hitting a parked car at 7th Street SE and South Vermont. The truck continued on, hitting a car parked in a driveway on 7th Street, then kept going and hit two houses in the 900 block of 7th Street.
Sidney K. Garcia, 21 of Mason City, is identified as the driver and has been charged with failure to maintain control, no driver’s license, no insurance, and eluding a police officer. A passenger, Terry L. Arp. 29 of Mason City, was hurt in the incident and taken to Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
This happened around 12:43 pm. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating.

MASON CITY, Iowa – Police say a driver has been taken to the hospital after a Monday afternoon crash.
The Mason City Police Department says two people were in a pickup truck. The driver was apparently driving with a barred license and there were warrants out for his arrest. Police say he saw a police officer and switched seats with his female passenger. She then apparently panicked and sped through several blocks, hitting several cars and two homes.
The male was taken to Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa for treatment of unknown injuries. Police say the female is facing several charges.
