Tough starts dooms Charles City at state

The Charles City softball team says nerves got the best of them in Tuesday's Class 4A quarterfinals.  Hoover scored 5 runs in the first inning on their way to a 7-2 victory.  The game was a rematch of the 1982 state championship game.

Charles City will play Independence in the consolation bracket Wednesday afternoon.
