OWATONNA, Minn. – A bloody suspect arrested in Dodge County has finally entered a plea to a stabbing in June 2017.
Ron Henry Lee Jaeger, 35 of Owatonna, pleaded not guilty Thursday to attempted 2nd degree murder and 1st degree assault. He’s accused of stabbing an ex-girlfriend five times in the back, twice in the abdomen, and once in the right cheek.
Police say the victim was attacked on June 1, 2017 at the Skyline Gardens trailer park in Owatonna. Court documents say after being stabbed, the woman made it to a neighboring trailer and told a neighbor that Jaeger stabbed her. The woman also asked her neighbor to tell her kids that she loved them. When police arrived on the scene, the victim was bleeding in a lawn chair in a front yard, being tended to by medical staff.
About a half hour after Owatonna police were called about the stabbing, the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jeager after a traffic stop on Highway 14, east of Dodge Center. The Sheriff’s Office says there was blood on Jaeger and inside his vehicle, including blood on a knife on the passenger’s side.
Jaeger’s trial is due to begin on January 22, 2019. He was found incompetent to stand trial in January but another examination in July found him fit to stand trial.
