MASON CITY, Iowa - Hundreds of people waiting in line before the doors at Younker’s opened.

"I’m looking for a new coat some new boots,” says Rebekah Braxter, shopper.

Rebekah and her family celebrated Thanksgiving a day early and was one of the first people in line along with her sister and nieces.

"I just like the memories we come every year it's a tradition that we do, yea just waiting in line and making those memories,” says Baxter.

Shopping on thanksgiving is also a tradition Barbara Leduc does with her grandkids every year.

"Well, every year the grandkids come with me and we just have a fun time we get up early really early some mornings and go out and the grandkids take everything to the car for me."

And even though the employees are spending their holiday working they don't seem to mind.

"I know that there are some of the negative perception regarding retail opening earlier and earlier however that's what our customers love and tell us when they want to shop and it is the most fun day I have,” says Carrie Kamm, Younker’s Store Manager.
