Second home invasion defendant sentenced

MASON CITY, Iowa – The second defendant in a March 27 home invasion has been sentenced.

18-year-old Austin Hasfjord of Clear Lake pleaded guilty to 2nd degree burglary and was given five years of supervised probation on Tuesday. He and 19-year-old Devon Reckner of Mason City were arrested for breaking into a home on East State Street in Mason City, assaulting someone inside, then stealing a safe.

Reckner previously pleaded guilty to 2nd degree burglary and was sentenced to three years of probation.

Both Hasfjord and Reckner must pay a total of $4,180 in restitution to the victim.
