ROCHESTER, Minn. - Rochester Neighbors, or RNeighbor's, A Litter Bit Better campaign is an annual event focused keeping trash in the can instead of in the environment.
Terra Loco running store in Rochester took part in the campaign on Sunday when runners volunteered time to pick up litter along a commonly used running trail.
Tiffany Piotrowicz is the owner of Terra Loco and an avid runner. She and runner volunteers said they notice a lot of trash along their running trails. Tiffany said as a local business owner she's happy to do her part even beyond today.
"We've asked all our customers to opt into email receipts, we don't offer bags if they can just take it in a box. Even if it's a small step or a small contribution to the community we need to do what we can for because were part of the community," she said.
But she said it's not a solo effort and thanks community members.
"They support local community, local businesses... local charity, so I kind of feel like I can facilitate that but it's the customers and the community that can really make that difference," Tiffany said.
All the trash and recycling collected on Sunday will be picked up by RNeighbors before being disposed of properly.
