ROCHESTER, Minn. – Fire and smoke caused extensive damage to a home in southwest Rochester Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the 100 block of 18th Avenue SW just before 5 pm. They arrived to find a 1 and ½ story home on fire with everyone inside having safely escaped except for a cat that may have been trapped in the burning home.
Crews brought the flames under control within 10 minutes and found the cat on the first floor of the home. The Rochester Fire Department says the animal appeared to be having trouble breathing so a pet rescue oxygen mask was used.
