ROCHESTER, Minn. - The Rochester Public School Board is considering increasing pay for board members.
Each year members of the board receive a $7,200 stipend for their service. The stipend amount has not been adjusted since 1985, promting a committee to recommend increasing compensation to account for inflation.
The committee suggests an annual stipend of $16,000 for school board members, and a $17,600 stipend for the school board chair.
The RPS board discussed the proposal at their meeting Tuesday night. Board members indicate they plan to discuss possible pay increases again at their next meeting on May 18th.
