ORONOCO TOWNSHIP, Minn. - A barn is considered a 'total loss' after a fire Saturday night.
Firefighters responded to 8100 block of 11th Avenue Northeast.
Many agencies were on scene including Oronoco First Responders, Rochester and Pine Island Fire Departments, Olmsted County Sheriff's Office, and Gold Cross.
Crews had to use tankers to transport water to the fire.
Blake Westrom rents the property. He tells KIMT he was doing yard work when he saw the barn in flames. He tried to put out the fire with a hose, but realized it was too big and called 911.
He said inside the barns was three pigs, a litter of kittens, and chickens. We're learning the pigs did survive, but are unsure the status of the kittens and chickens.
Authorities say no one was injured in the fire.
"The barn and stuff, it can be replaced," Westrom said, "and i'm just happy no one was hurt. As far as my family and stuff, they're all safe."
Fire officials are still investigating the cause of the fire.
