ROCHESTER, Minn. – A boy suffered significant injuries after being beaten before one of the assailants got into the victim’s car and it crashed into a building, according to police.
Rochester Police say a call was received at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday at 3950 10th Ave. NW after a driver had fled from a vehicle after it crashed.
Police said the victim went to meet some people in the parking lot of Gage Elementary when he was dragged from his car and beaten by several suspects.
The victim’s ID, phone and credit card were taken before the victim managed to get back into the backseat of his car.
While there, police say one of the suspects jumped into the driver’s seat and took off. The crash happened when the victim and the suspect wrestled for the steering wheel, according to authorities.
The victim was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with significant facial injuries.
He told police that he was meeting someone he knew on Snapchat for a sleepover before the robbery occurred.
