MASON CITY, Iowa – A man is facing a first-degree harassment charge after he allegedly told a victim “if I get arrested I’ll kill you.”
Justin Rieck, of Mason City, is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on charges of harassment, failure to appear, interference with official acts and domestic abuse assault, second offense.
Police say they were dispatched to a domestic call at 18th St. and S. Coolidge Ave. at 8:19 p.m. Tuesday and located a male subject on a bike.
The subject told police his name was Jason Reck before taking off running.
After a short foot pursuit, the subject was identified as Rieck, who had two valid warrants out of Cerro Gordo County.
“Rieck stated that he gave a false name and ran because he did not want to go to jail,” the criminal complaint states.
Rieck was also charged with domestic abuse assault in March.
