Meanwhile, construction continues on the new band and choir rooms, cafeteria, school entrance, offices, and gymnasium.
Osage Superintendent, Barb Schwamman, tells KIMT that safety and efficiency are high priorities for the project.
“We did have to cut some things out and that’s okay,” said Schwamman. “We had to look at what were the most important things so again safety, efficiency, revitalizing the spaces that we had because a lot of the classrooms are getting total remodels just like our science classrooms did.”
She also says the community has been supportive of the project.
“We have had a lot of support when people are seeing it happen, when they see the renovated spaces that those are much needed things to happen because um the middle school and high school are 50 and 60 years-old respectively, and so they needed some updating whether it was facelifts, the fire codes - all of the safety and security issues that we needed to look at.”
The project is anticipated to be complete by the start of next school year.
