Not guilty plea in Mason City chain attack

MASON CITY, Iowa – A man accused of assault with a chain and attached padlock is pleading not guilty.

35-year-old Mike Lester Nicholson of Mason City is charged with willful injury causing serious injury. Authorities say he attacked someone at a home in the 800 block of North Delaware Avenue on the morning of October 30. Nicholson is accused of hitting his victim in the head and back.

His trial is scheduled for January 9 in Cerro Gordo County District Court.
