North Iowa Band Festival announces theme

MASON CITY, Iowa – The North Iowa Band Festival will be “Totally 80s” this May.

That’s the theme selected for the annual event on Memorial Day Weekend and it honors the festival’s 80th year.

The Band Festival Committee also announced three major award winners: Fred and Ila Mae Fenchel have been given the Grand Marshal Award for their contributions to the Festival; Robert Fisher is being honored with the Klempnauer Award for his volunteer efforts; and Michael McEniry is getting the Band Master Award, which was first given out in 1980 to recognized retiring band master for their work with area youth.
