MASON CITY, Iowa- Some will tell you behavioral services, as well as medical and dental services are in short supply in North Iowa. That is why a non-profit is opening a new facility to fill in those cracks.
Ranae Kruckenberg, CEO for the Fort Dodge Community Health Center, was getting the word out Monday about the services they plan to offer. She spoke to a group of local health care providers including the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health, Prairie Ridge Integrated Health as well as community members.
Kruckenberg said she has been wanting to open a non-profit clinic in Mason City for the last five years because she said there is a medical gap that needs to be filled.
“Mason city is a large city in Cerro Gordo County,” she said. “Cerro Gordo County has around 14,000 underserved patients so that’s our primary focus. The area doesn’t have the resources that it needs. We can fill that void.”
Kruckenberg said they will plan to employee around 14 people at first and expand as needed. The facility is expected to open this fall.
