Law enforcement says Mason City man was caught with drugs and a gun on Thanksgiving night.

MASON CITY, Iowa – A North Iowa man authorities say was caught with drugs on Thanksgiving is pleading not guilty.

36-year-old Jose Santos Najera of Mason City is charged with possession of a firearm as a felon, possession of a controlled substance-3rd or subsequent offense, and possession of marijuana-3rd or subsequent offense. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office says Najera was pulled over around 10:30 pm on November 23 after a deputy noticed his vehicle had a stolen license plate.

A search of the vehicle reportedly found marijuana, prescription medication, and a gun.

No trial date has been set.
