Khalilah Holloway was getting ready for the first basketball game of her college career. She was a freshman at NIACC, excited to play a role on the 2016-17 team.
Several days before the first game, she received a message from a friend back home. The message asked about her brother's health after he was shot. Khalilah's brother did not survive and the college freshman lost her best friend.
Holloway is now back with the Trojans and is dedicating every game she plays in Eric's memory.
His favorite number was 24, so that's her number.
She wrote "Play for Eric" on all of her shoes.
Khalilah's first game as a sophomore is Friday night on the NIACC campus.
