Brooks Boie from Rochester MN asked the financial experts at First Alliance Credit Union, “Is college always worth the upfront financial investment? If not, when is it not worth it?”

Robin Fries, Organizational Development Trainer at First Alliance Credit Union, offered this helpful advice to this great question:

  • Scholarships and grant will bring down the upfront cost of college
  • Look at the average salaries for graduates in the degree field from the colleges your considering
  • Only borrow the money you need to cover tuition, don’t take the extra funds that are offered to you
  • Do your research up front to find out what grants and scholarships are available to you
