UPDATE: Man in critical condition after Mason City motorcycle crash

Emergency responded to a crash involving a motorcycle and truck on Highway 122 Sunday morning.

MASON CITY, Iowa - One man is in critical condition after a crash involving a motorcycle and truck on Highway 122 this morning.

According to Mason City Police, it happened just before 10:30 a.m.

Marvin Alphs, 69, of Mason City, was driving a truck east on Highway 122 and tried to turn on South Eisenhower.

Robert Schwieger, 56, of Mason City, was driving a motorcycle west on the highway.

Police say the two vehicles collided in the intersection.

Crews transported Schwieger to Mercy One. We learned Monday night he was transferred to Mayo Clinic where he remains in critical condition.

Alphs was not injured in the accident but was charged with failure to obey a traffic control device.
