MASON CITY, Iowa – A Mason City woman is facing a felony domestic abuse charge after police say she strangled a victim who thought “she was going to die.”
Ivy Hertzel, 26, is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail after an incident Tuesday in the 600 block of S. President Ave.
Hertzel and a woman were in an argument when Hertzel allegedly grabbed the victim by the neck and started to apply pressure, according to court documents.
The victim could not breath, noticed a change in speech and had visible injuries on her neck, police said.
