Mason City man facing felony forgery charge, attempts to run from police

Man accused of trying to run from police early Friday morning.

Mason City, Iowa – A Mason City man is facing a felony forgery charge and allegedly tried to run from cops while being placed under arrest.
According to Mason City police, 18-year-old Marcus Meyer presented a stolen check to a Mason city bank without the permission from the owner of the check.
Police say it happened between Aug. 25 and Sept. 9.
Meyer is also facing misdemeanor charges for interference with official acts and failure to provide liability.
Police say when Meyer was asked to turn around and put his hands behind his back, he turned and tried to run away but it was unsuccessful. That happened around 2:49 a.m. Friday in the 600 block of S. Kentucky.
He is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $5,000 cash bond.
