Mason City, Iowa – A Mason City man is facing a felony domestic abuse charge after an incident Oct. 19 that left a woman fearful for her life.
According to court documents, Jacob Johnson, 28, is facing charges for felony domestic assault (strangulation) along with harassment, fraudulent practices and interference with official acts, all misdemeanors.
Mason City police were called to the 600 block of N. Pennsylvania around 9 a.m. Oct. 19 and found that Johnson had hit the victim with an open hand several times and placed his hands around the throat of the victim. The defendant had a previous conviction for domestic violence.
