MASON CITY, Iowa – A 49-year-old man who said he had homicidal thoughts and wanted to kill kids, teenagers and adults is facing a felony charge of threats of terrorism.
According to court documents, Steven Williams, of Mason City, went to the Mason City police station Monday around 7:30 p.m. and told dispatch that he was homicidal and wanted to go to the hospital.
Documents state he proceeded to tell the dispatcher that he wanted to hurt officers when they arrived. Williams allegedly told two officers he wanted to kill somebody and that the hospital wouldn’t admit him.
Williams told officers that if they didn’t take him to the hospital he “was going to get a bottle of alcohol, make a Molotov Cocktail Bomb, and come back here (police department) with it.”
The complaint also states, “Once at the hospital, Steven proceeded to tell nursing staff that he wanted to kill anybody that made him mad and look at him. He stated he was going to go to the hardware store and get a hatchet and kill people with it."
He is being held on $5,000 bond in the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
