Long-time journalist celebrates retirement

Even though John Skipper is retiring from the Globe Gazette, he said he’s not retiring from writing.

MASON CITY, Iowa – After 52 years of being a journalist, John Skipper is celebrating his retirement from the Globe Gazette.

He said he was a reporter there for more than half of those years.

Even though he’s retiring from the paper, he said he’s not retiring from writing.

He’s written 16 books and says he already has ideas for two more.
