CLEAR LAKE, Iowa - Last month, AmeriHealth Caritas announced it was leaving the managed Medicaid program in Iowa, which would leave thousands of Iowans without health insurance.
Patients who have insurance coverage with AmeriHealth Caritas received letters in the mail stating they will receive informational packets providing them with new health plan coverage.

But many Iowans, like Teresa Campbell, say they haven't received anything yet and it's been a struggle to get answers.
“You have to contact your doctors to see who will be taking your insurance, but it would have been helpful to have all of that information from Medicaid from the state to make a more informed decision,” says Campbell.
Campbell also reached out to Iowa Governor Kim Reynold's office but has not heard back.
