ROCHESTER, Minn. – A soft lockdown has been lifted at John Marshall High School after a report that a student brought a BB gun to school.
“Site and district administration worked closely with the Rochester Police Department. We are unable to provide additional details due to the MN Government Data Practices Act,” the school said on social media just before 11 a.m. “We followed all of our proper protocols and our students and staff were safe throughout this process. Students were able to move about the building with an adult during the soft lock-down and teaching and learning still occurred.”
The lockdown went into place just after 9 a.m. and the school issued the following statement at that time.
“We have a police liaison presence at our building as we are working on an incident. All of our staff and students are safe,” the school said on social media. “While it is frustrating, we cannot share any other details at this time. The district is working very closely with the Rochester Police Department on this matter. Again, all of our students and staff are safe and teaching and learning are continuing as usual.”
We will have more updates as they become available.
