Iowans head east to help with hurricane relief

Officials expect tens of thousands to need assistance.

DES MOINES, Iowa – Over two dozen Red Cross disaster workers from Iowa and heading to the East Coast to help with Hurricane Florence relief.

27 workers and five emergency response vehicles from Iowa are on their way toward the Carolinas and Virginia, joining the effort to assist tens of thousands of people in the danger area and working to identify and prepare evacuation shelters.

You can help people affected by Hurricane Florence by visiting redcross.org, calling 1- 800-RED CROSS or texting the word FLORENCE to 90999 to make a $10 donation.
