GARNER, Iowa – A woman is pleading not guilty after police say she was caught hiding drugs in her “private area.”

Anna Marie Schmitz, 43 of Ionia, is charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp. She was arrested on April 26 after an early morning traffic stop on 225th Street near Britt.

Police say Schmitz was a passenger in a pickup truck. After the driver reportedly admitted there was meth in the truck, police searched Schmitz and say she had bloody hands and needles in her possession. Officers say while Schmitz had been standing in front of a police car, she removed two baggies containing 25 grams of meth and 3 grams of pot from her “private area” and tried to throw them away.
Police say they also found two drug pipes along the side of the road.

Schmitz is scheduled to stand trial on July 11 in Hancock County District Court.
