House fire in Mason City

Two fire engines responded Friday evening.

MASON CITY, Iowa – Emergency crews dealt with a house fire across from Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa Friday evening.

The fire broke out sometime before 8 pm on 4th Street SW, between South Taylor Avenue and South Polk Place. Two fire engines and several other fire department vehicles responded and blocked off the eastbound lanes of 4th Street while they handled the situation.

The fire appears to have been in an upstairs room. No word yet on the cause or if anyone was hurt.
