ROCHESTER, Minn. - An 18-year-old male was shot and killed early Friday and a 20-year-old male is in critical condition after an early-morning shooting in the hallway of an apartment complex.
Rochester police said they received a call for a shooting at 3:20 a.m. at Essex Park Apartments.
Both victims were taken to St. Marys Hospital and the 18-year-old, whose name has not been released, was pronounced deceased.
Both victims are from Rochester. No arrests have been made.
“It appears that the victim and suspects knew each other, but this is very preliminary,” police said Friday during a press briefing. “It does not appear to be some random act of violence. It appears that some altercation took place prior that caused this.”
An Enterprise Car Rental store next to the apartment complex also had some damage from a potential gunshot. Police said they are working to see if it is connected to the apartment complex shooting.
