ROCHESTER, Minn. – Two men found with drugs and cash in someone else’s home are pleading guilty.

Matthew Todd Sorensen, 21 of Mankato, and Lucas James McNiff, 22 of Mantorville, were arrested on June 10 after a neighbor called law enforcement and said there were people going in and out of the house in Byron, despite the homeowner being gone.

Authorities say they found Sorensen and McNiff inside, along with 55 pills, 14.35 grams of cocaine, 30.5 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, a marijuana grinder, and $790 in cash.

Sorensen pleaded guilty Tuesday to 5th degree drug possession. He’s received a stay of adjudication and five years of supervised probation. Sorensen must also pay a $500 fine or do 50 hours of community service. A stay of adjudication means if he meets the terms of his probation, the charge against him will be dismissed.

McNiff pleaded guilty to 3rd degree drug possession. His sentencing is set for October 22.
