MASON CITY, Iowa – A man accused of fleeing from law enforcement at over three times the speed limit is pleading guilty.

37-year-old Lance Frederick Gruelke of Clear Lake was arrested on August 29 after an early morning car chase in Mason City. Authorities say he drove away from an attempted traffic stop at speeds hitting 120 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone. Mason City police say after a tire deflation device made his vehicle undriveable, Gruelke tried to escape on foot.

He has entered guilty pleas to charges of eluding and possession of methamphetamine-1st offense.

Gruelke has been sentenced to five years in prison.
