MASON CITY, Iowa – A new Chief Executive Officer has been appointed to lead Good Shepherd, Inc.
Bert Vigen will take on the position in December, succeeding the retiring Mike Svejda who has been with Good Shepherd for four decades.
“I am looking forward to joining Good Shepherd and building upon the excellent reputation,” says Vigen. “The Board and I will be going through a comprehensive strategic planning process next year to develop goals and strategies to further enhance Good Shepherd’s programs and services. “
Vigen has been the CEO of Ridgecrest Village in Bettendorf, IA since 1996 and oversaw a $14 million expansion project that included 60 new apartments. He has also worked with Covenant Retirement Communities and is the current Board Chair of LeadingAge Iowa, a state association for non-profit agencies dedicated to quality housing, health, and community for seniors.
Good Shepherd operates a number of care and living facilities in North Iowa, including the Health Center, Kentucky Ridge, Corner Stone, The Manor, and Shalom I and Shalom II.
