CRESCO, Iowa – The first sentence has been handed down in drug bust where five people were arrested.

Billie Jean Hageman, 18 of Lime Springs, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine and possession of amitriptyline without a prescription. She’s been given up to two years of probation and ordered to pay a $315 fine. As part of a plea deal, six other drug charges were dismissed and she received a deferred judgment on the meth charge.  That means is will be wiped from her record if she meets the terms of her probation.

Hageman was among five arrested on December 12, 2017, after Cresco police searched a home in the 700 block of South Elm Street. Officers said they found meth and six different prescription drugs without a prescription.

Michael Leyton Walter, 30 of Cresco, has pleaded not guilty to gathering where drugs are used, maintaining premises for drug use, and seven counts of drug possession. His trial is set for June 27.

David Lynn Gaul, 58 of Cresco, has entered a not guilty plea to maintaining premises for drug use and two counts of drug possession. His trial is also scheduled to being June 27.

Two other Cresco residents, Lance Aaron Souhrada, 44, and Kristie Jo Cobban, 43, were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Court records indicate they have not yet entered pleas.
