MASON CITY, Iowa – A man has been arrested after allegedly being caught on video surveillance stealing packages from a residence.
Nicholas Wilmarth, 29, of Mason City, is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on drug and theft charges.
Wilmarth is accused of going to a residence in the 100 block of S. Vermont July 26 and taking packages that were delivered by the U.S. Postal Service valued at $14 and $152.
“The defendant was identified when the victims put the picture on social media to ask for help from those who might recognize him,” the criminal complaint states. “The victims were given the defendant’s name by several people responding to the request.
“The victims then found a Facebook page belonging to the defendant and located pictures that match the images of the video surveillance.”
Wilmarth is also facing a felony drug charge for allegedly being in possession of methamphetamine.
Wilmarth was arrested in March for being in possession of fake currency.
