ROCHESTER, Minn. - A drug deal that began on Snapchat resulted in a shot fired and a man being assaulted.
Authorities say a 19-year-old male and a 20-year-old female from Winona were assaulted after trying to meet a girl named Ashley, who they met on Snapchat, in an attempt to buy marijuana.
Authorities say the meeting happened in the 2200 block of Park Lane SE, and when they arrived they were directed into a trailer.
Once in the trailer, a black male came out of a room and pointed a gun at the male victim’s head and demanded he empty his pockets.
The victim had $300 and an iPhone. A struggle ensued and the victim was punched and kicked, according to police. At one point, police said the victim was able to grab the gun and pulled the trigger. The shot went into the floor. The assault continued outside when one of the black males grabbed a rake and began to hit the victim in the head.
Authorities said drug deals on Snapchat are not uncommon and the location where the incident occurred was a vacant trailer.
