ST. PAUL, Minn. – The victim of a fatal stabbing in Steele County has been identified.
The Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office says Mohamed Aweis Mohamed, 32 of Owatonna, died from a stab wound to the chest following an incident Sunday at Dartts Park in Owatonna.
Police and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are now asking for the public’s help in finding a “person of interest” in this investigation. Hassan Nur Hassan, 28, is described as 5’ 11’’ tall and about 140 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes, and a goatee.
Investigators believe Hassan is driving a tan 2000 Honda Accord 4-door sedan with Minnesota license plate EGG-087.
Anyone with information on Hassan’s whereabouts or who witnessed the incident in Owatonna is asked to contact police at 507-444-3800.

STEELE COUNTY, Minn. - A stabbing left a man dead Sunday afternoon at an Owatonna park.
The Minnesota BCA said it happened at 600 Cherry St. NE in Owatonna.
Officers located an unconscious man who appeared to have been stabbed. The man, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Two knives were recovered at the scene and no arrests have been made.
Investigators are asking any members of the public with any information to contact Owatonna police at 507-444-3800.
"This remains an ongoing investigation. Further information will be released as the investigation progresses. The name of the deceased will be released once the preliminary autopsy and family notifications have taken place," authorities said.
