MASON CITY, Iowa – Police have made an arrest in connection with an early morning theft.

Harold Victory Stinnett Jr., 28, of Clear Lake, is charged with 1st-degree theft and is being held on $10,000 bond in the Cerro Gordo County Jail.

Mason City police say a man and woman were at the Yesway convenience store at 12th Street NE and North Carolina Avenue around 2 am Monday when two men got into their car and told them to follow another vehicle. Police say when the two vehicles got to a parking lot a couple of blocks way, the man and woman were ordered out of their car.

The suspects then removed property from the man and woman’s vehicle, took the victims’ phones and wallets from them, and then drove away. Police say neither victim was injured.

An investigation led to the search of a home and vehicle in the 1400 block of North Hampshire Avenue. Police say property stolen from the victims was found.

This investigation continues and Mason City police say more arrests are expected.
