ALBERT LEA, Minn. - A gas leak caused Albert Lea officials to issue a "civil danger" warning Thursday.
The leak happened around 11 am after construction crews working near 1609 Bridge Avenue hit and ruptured a gas line. At least one home had to be evacuated.
Minnesota Energy Resources says gas service will be interrupted to around 400 customers as repairs are made. Gas will be turned off from Quisley Street to the north and work is expected to last into Thursday evening.
Gas crews will be shutting off the gas at the meter at each home and hanging yellow tags will be left at those residences where service was turned off. If Minnesota Energy Resources was unable to make contact with the homeowner, they will need to contact MER to have their gas service restored once the repair is complete.
