CHARLES CITY, Iowa – A jury finds a Floyd County man guilty of 3rd degree sex abuse.

Michael Joseph Debettignies, 51 of Charles City, was accused on July 12, 2017, of sexually abusing a 20-year-old female on April 6, 2012.

He pleaded not guilty and his trial began on Tuesday. It concluded Wednesday and after less than three and ½ hours of deliberation on Thursday, the jury returned a guilty verdict.

Debettignies is scheduled to be sentenced on November 13.
