CLEAR LAKE, Iowa - The heat isn't stopping everyone from getting outside, and some are starting their 4th of July celebrations early.
Trayvontae Lewis from Mason City is on the lake shore enjoying the sunshine.

"I come here almost every single day just because I love coming to the beach and hanging out with friends."
Despite the extreme heat projected for the weekend, he's not letting that change his plans.
"My plans are just to come out here all weekend, just hang out. Of course, ride some rides and eat some carnie food, because who doesn't love carnie food? Just spend time in the lake because it's gonna be a hot one this weekend."
Michale Meyering and his family got out on the water early Friday morning to beat the heat and boat traffic.
"We kind of anticipated that, so we were talking about maybe coming out tonight too, but I think maybe we're just going to get off the water today and enjoy the rest of the day."
Both Lewis and Meyering can't stress enough that if you are outside this weekend...
"Stay hydrated, drink a lot of water, use sunscreen because you don't want that UV to get at you, and make sure you're eating plenty of food and drinking plenty of water," Lewis said.
"Know what you're doing, know what to look for, be cautious of other boaters that are out there," Meyering said.
In addition, Meyering has some additional advice.
"If you are out there, be safe. If you're having a drink, just make sure you have someone else that can drive you."
Iowa law does prohibit anyone from operating a boat while intoxicated, as well as for those on water skis, surfboards or any similar watercraft. If you are convicted of boating while intoxicated, you can be fined up to $1,000, go to jail for two days, and also lose your right to operate a boat for up to a year.
