AUSTIN, Minn. – Sexually abusing a young girl is sending an Austin man to prison.

Samuel Mejia Garcia, 33, pleaded guilty to one count of 2nd degree criminal sexual conduct and was sentenced Thursday to seven yeras and 10 months in prison, followed by 10 years of conditional release. Garcia will get credit for 332 days already served.

He was arrested in June 2017 and charged with four counts of 1st degree criminal sexual conduct. Austin police said a 13-year-old girl told them Garcia had been abusing her “at least once a week” since she was 10.

Garcia reached a plea deal with authorities in December 2017.
